Just have the south area and I'm assuming one final section after that. Also haven't found any keys at all, it's kind of ridiculous how some of this stuff is hidden. actually, I suppose I would have figured it out in the West area since I ended up not getting one of the ones that talking to the other drifter puts on your map lol. And I've clearly missed like a million things already, I would have never known that there were 8 of those shards per area if I hadn't looked up a guide when I tried going through a door that I thought required 4 when it actually needed 8. Just downloaded this yesterday, I was enjoying it at first but the difficulty is a little bullshit imo since it mainly just amounts to throwing a bunch of enemies and shit at you all at once. And the only real "boss" isn't even on the tower.and he's also not really new. Am I missing something? I was under the impression it could be replayed and would throw new bosses and stuff at you when you went through it again, but instead it is just a short little extra. I am wondering why it only lets you climb the tower once, you can't even revisit it. It causes your little robot friend to make little beep-boops when a secret is nearby. The new costume is great for helping to find secrets you may have missed. But I am sure you can have fun frigging with it. It won't work on tougher enemies really, and it has a very narrow hitbox,so really just trying to freeze an enemy to save yourself from being swarmed ends up causing more trouble than it saves. The new Crystal gun that freezes enemies with crystals, it completely useless. I pair it with the shotgun as my go-to weapon combo now. The Caster, essentially a sword you throw and it comes back to you, is incredibly fun and useful. Once you finish it is no longer accessible. Sadly in Boktai you can climb the tower dozens of times, but in Hyper Light Drifter you can only climb it once. Right down to exclusive weapons/items for completing it. The areas aren't long, but the Tower reminds me of the Azure Tower bonus area in Boktai. The dash-through attack can be useful sometimes.Click to shrink.I explored 100% of the original. I got through maybe 2-3 puzzles that gave me a yellow bit in the end but thats about it. It is the one upgrade that everyone always recommends you get RIGHT AWAY that I found completely useless for the most part, even for traversing the levels. In fact you'll be hard pressed to use it under pressure since it not only requires very specific timing that changes halfways through, but leaves you in a stunned state after dashing for pro-longed periods of time. You can get by every boss fight perfectly fine without it. Unlike most I would say chain-dash is honestly not that important. Sword deflect is really useful for some fights in the south which you'll be doing last so you should have enough bits accumulated by then to have those three. Also take note that the way the dash shield works is like a sword deflect, you need to use it right before the projectile hits you. this is the activation demarcation!ĭash-shield and Charge attack in that order are really important, everything else is up to you really. you'll see a very faint diamond form around the drifter as projectiles near you. every other drifter set except for the blue/gold set you get for finding all the monoliths seem to have really negligible effects, if any at all? the navy blue/grey set sword and the purple/red/black set sword look dope with that loadout, though.Īs a side note, there seems to be some confusion as to how the shield dash works vis-a-vis its activation range. i like to use the fuchsia sword for that increased weapon recharge for optimal gun canceling. the white cloak is just nice for increased interaction speed, and the purple buddy doubles your stamina, which makes getting around much nicer. i personally love to deflect shots as soon as they're fired to hit whatever's shooting at me with one concise whup-pahhhhĪlso, i run white cloak, purple buddy and whatever colour sword you want to use.
